Morvena was built in 1980 at Rye in East Sussex, UK by Versatility Workboats Ltd. She is a Versatility 30. She was one of a pair of boats ordered by a Mr Lafferty from Tobermory, Scotland. Both boats were fitted out to a high standard by Mr Lafferty, one was used by his brother and the other by himself. He named her Shearwater. She is 9.44 meters in length, 3.36meters beam and draws 1.3 metres. After a few years she was renamed Morvena and sold to a younger gentleman who used her for fishing charters. She was then sold again and was used for servicing fish farms until she was sold to Mr Alastair Sinclair of Lochaline who used her for pleasure fishing and general cruising for 11 years. He then sold her to us. She is a credit to Mr Sinclair who is a retired marine engineer. Morvena is equipped with a Ford 4D254 diesel engine which produces 80hp at 2600 RPM. She has a Borg Warner Velvet Drive gearbox and will cruise at around 8 knots.
